Side purse to hide my money! :)

Image
So I finally made a "hip change purse"....not quite sure what to call it really!  Mom suggested I make it so that it goes around my waist (through some belt loops) and tuck into the top of my jeans and that way, the strap doesn't show under my shirt, and no one can just grab this hidden, cute "fanny pack"...except it sits on my hip...so hip pack?  Here's what I came up with using some fabric, ribbon, and a seven inch zipper I had in my sewing box! (like the pointe shoes in the background? :) ) And here's how I made it! (click on the pictures to make them bigger) 1. Cut out your fabric to the size you want it (I wanted it slightly bigger than my passport+my Euros, so it could hold both if needed.  You really only need four pieces of fabric (outside front, outside back, lining front, lining back) but since I was using a light color (hence, more see-through) I cut out another piece of lining to go between the outside piece and the lining piece...so six p

Creamy Tomato & Chicken Casserole

Image
I've been inspired by my wonderful friend Holli and her roommate Erin (who I've never met) and their cooking adventures while in Mongolia ( here's their blog ).  So...I decided to blog about how to make one of Adam's favorite meals we invented this year.  It started as poppyseed chicken casserole, but ingredients changed over time...there's no poppyseed in this casserole, but there is some tomatoes! And it's super easy to make!! Preheat the oven and boil some noodles (any kind will work, sometimes I just break up spaghetti noodles really small, sometimes I use the twisty noodles, but this time I used egg noodles...also, no specific amount of noodles, just however many noodles you want...I believe I put about 5 or 6 handfuls in this casserole? A little less than half of the bag of egg noodles anyway...) Mix your ingredients! For a 9x13 dish or a 2.5 quart dish... 2 cans Cream of Chicken Soup a cup of milk a can of diced tomatoes (or about two freshly diced

Getting Ready for France!

Cell Phone situation figured out....check. Credit Card/Debit Card situation figured out...check. Voltage/Outlet converter...check. Lock for my suitcase...check. New Suitcase...check. Euros ordered from the bank...check. Bag packed...um no, no check yet. I'm getting there!   Just gotta pick up my Euros tomorrow from the bank, set up my rental from Verizon before I go to the airport, pack, and make a "purse" to keep my cash in like this one:  This one at Target was nice, but just not that cute.  So I guess I'll get to sewing! :)

Beach Pictures!

So there really aren't that many of us because I'm not a fan of getting sand in either of my cameras, but here they are! :)

Nifty Little Site I Found

Image
I was reading Reader's Digest earlier and they were talking about this site:  1000 Awesome Things .  This guy is doing a countdown of 1000 Awesome Things every weekday until he has a list of 1000.  He started this list when he was going through some rough stuff in his life.  Good way to think happy thoughts, huh?

Oh! And in reply to Megan...

Megan posted a blog entry about  birthdays  and what she wants her birthday cake to look like. They look great and all :) haha but I'm thinking more along the lines of this..... :) HAHAHAHA :) JK

820+ miles of driving...11+ miles of walking

That's a pretty good summary of our vacation this week! We started in Auburn, went to the parents' houses in Irondale and Mt. Olive, then drove down to Grayton Beach and stayed a night...shopped in Destin...drove to Gulf Shores and drove to the other end of Gulf Shores, and to Fort Morgan.  On our way back, we detoured to Fairhope, then stopped in Montgomery (but got to the mall right as they were closing, oh well!)  We got back to Auburn around 7ish.  We're tanner than we were when we started...and we have too many new tshirts hahaha.  We ate lots of great food and enjoyed many many walks.  We even went to the doctor while we were there! How often does that happen on vacation, huh? Adam's poison oak is doing much better now! Oh, and leaving from lunch this afternoon at LuLu's, Adam got to be a fireman (not that he isn't always).  A guy at the restaurant was dehydrated and collapsed about the time that Adam was walking by, so he waited with him and kept his eye

BBQ Lunch & a Wedding!!

Image
I think I got a little sun today! We had our Sunday School “Supper Club” this morning…we tend to make it “Supper Lunch.”  We grilled out and soaked up some sun. It was so much fun!!  After that, we headed to Christel & Bobby’s wedding at AUMC.  It was so pretty. We looooved the music! Christel, you did a great job planning everything! J   The reception was at Kiesel Park…one of mine and Adam’s favorite places in Auburn!  I wish I had one of the old old old pictures of me and Christel to add here…but there aren’t any super old ones on my computer…so these will just have to do right? J Congratulations Christel & Bobby! p.s. I probably should’ve brushed my hair out of my face in the pic from my wedding!! Hahaha!

I got mail! :)

Image
I love it when I forget I’m expecting something in the mail!  Today I got a mini cookbook from the American Heart Association. I can’t wait to try some food!! The tomato and roasted red bell pepper soup looks good…and the chicken pasta salad with creamy poppy seed dressing…and the broiled salmon with plum salsa (mom must bought salmon…let me know if you want this recipe…)…oh and the zesty pecan-crusted tilapia…and the apple streusel cupcakes.  I think it’s time for me to go eat lunch now…hahaha

Countdown to Vacations!

Image
Beach:5 days France : 20 days I started thinking today about what all I need to pack when I go to France!   Not much, because I've gotta leave room for some souvenirs!! :)   I get a little bit more excited every day, but I don't know that it's really going to hit me that I'm going to FRANCE until I sit down in the Birmingham airport and wait on my boarding time.   I still find it a little hard to believe that I really have a passport...and not the kind from Disney World!   But, for the next few days, maybe I'll get on that sewing I keep talking about...and that scrapbook I keep thinking about.   I did learn a little more about making a blog pretty...so I guess that's an accomplishment, right? : )

4.0

Image
I got my first 4.0 for a semester at Auburn! Now my overall GPA is a 3.83 :) :) :) I gave up on trying to find a picture of a dancing tiger...oh well. hahah

Oldies but Goodies

Image
1st off....One year ago today, this was me... Yay!! A year ago today, I graduated with my 1st degree from Auburn :)  Here's my  diploma   :) :) Which I haven't framed. I had a pretty frame, but the diploma was a bit big for it...and all the other frames are crazy expensive...so I'm thinking that when I'm done getting degrees, I'll get them all framed together :) And today, I'm looking through some old pictures as I organize the mess on my external hard drive.  When i get done, I'll work on my scrapbook of the wedding planning process through the first year of marriage :)  Here's some old pictures I found along the way... Happy Mother's Day Mom!!!
