She’s got some weird kids doesn’t she? :) I’ve got to brag on Mom again today…I haven’t written about it on here because this happened while I was finishing up schoolwork, but Mom finished her first 5K the day before Easter in about 37 minutes…and got 3rd place in her age group! :) Yay Mom!! :) Here is my Mother’s Day post from last year ! :)

This picture was taken at Toomer's Corner after the National Championship game! The inside of the card has a picture of Samford Hall after the SEC Championship. It just so happened to have an orange glow on it due to the moonlight. It's beautiful! :) I'm excited to get these in the mail so I can send a little "War Eagle!" to everyone! :)

Yesterday while my sister was in town, we were going to get her to take our Christmas card picture.  The weather wasn't very pretty so we changed out mind.  Plus, Adam pointed out that Christmas lights would be up soon downtown, which would be pretty! Anywho, when we finally take our pictures, we're going to have to pick between our favorites here:  Shutterfly Christmas Cards So far I like these the most... This one is a little hard for me because I have lots of friends in many different places.  After high school graduation, most of my friends moved to different schools across the south.  I made new friends every year during my undergrad, and most of those have graduated and moved on to other jobs across the county (or across the world!)  During my Grad School years, I've made more friends, but even those are quickly finishing school and getting jobs elsewhere. Let's just throw in the fact that every year I have around one hundred people living in my building and I usually keep in touch with a decent number of those after they move out.  Needless to say, there is no way I have A  Picture of my friends. So, I've decided to post a picture here of my friend who is living the furtherest away at this time.  She was my first "new" friend in high school.  We had 9th grade World History together and I asked her one day if she would save me a seat in the lunchroo...

Dad's 50 today! :) Here's the cake I made him last year because he LOVES Cheerios! :) Like the table? It's from the Wendy's restaurant where Mom & Dad met! :) Here's a side view without the Cheerio's and "spoon" And top view...of the "bowl of milk" :) I'll go ahead and post pictures of his birthday cake since I know he's not going to see it before I give it to him! They're at the campground tonight and we're going to go up there tomorrow night. I'm excited because the weather is going to be great! :) Dad loves Banana Sandwiches...so I made him a Banana Cake with vanilla pudding icing! :) Nothing fancy in terms of decorations, but it makes me think of his Peanut Butter, Jelly, and Banana sandwiches he likes so much...and for some reason it reminds me of Nilla wafers haha! One of my residents and I both had some bananas that needed to be gotten rid of...so we looked up some interesting recipes for bananas while we watched the game tonight.  We loved the idea of Banana Icing, Banana Sorbet, and Banana Apple cupcakes...but we settled on Banana Fritters! :) We found the recipe at allrecipes.com Here's a link  and a screenprint! :) (Click the image to make it bigger). We wound up using the good parts from four very ripe bananas rather than the two bananas it suggested. And of course...pictures! :) How cute sitting in pretty chocolate... These were the funny looking ones while they were frying, but still yummy. :) YUMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got a little photo crazy waiting on the rest to fry... I forgot that I ordered this coffee mug on Mom's Snapfish account.  It was kinda a hassle to tell you the truth.  She had a credit for a free collage mug and no matter what we did, it wanted to charge us for it.  She emailed them and told them about it (after they emailed her and said "You still have something in your cart!") and she let them know that between the two of us, we sat in front of the computer for several hours designing and then trying to order the mug with no luck (and we are far from computer illiterate!)  So they emailed her back and told her to order it and they would give her a refund...so we did. And here it is! :)

I feel like I say this all the time...but I love the girls in my building.  This is my fifth year on staff and this year, the community in my building is so much stronger than any other year and it's evident to everyone!  There is almost always someone in the lobby cooking, studying, or just watching YouTube videos waiting on someone to join them!  This is the first year that we've kept the kitchen stocked with a variety of cookware and dishes because everyone uses them!! We also keep dish soap and a dish rag in there because people are washing their dishes when they are done! This may not seem like that novel of an idea, but last year I found myself washing abandoned dishes in the kitchen way too frequently because otherwise, the sink would stay stopped up with food and the dishes would sit in the sink and start to smell up that end of the second floor.  This just isn't the case this year!  Megan told me at the beginning of the year that she prayed for our resi...

I've been wanting to learn some new photo editing skills... like being able to select what's in color and what's in black & white. Somehow I came across this site... Jessica Sprague I don't remember how I found it...probably one of those things where you look at one site, then the next, then the next, then the next....and before you know it, you've learned how to play with the coloring in a photo!! :) I practiced on this picture of me, my sisters, and my sister-in-law on my wedding day... Yay!!!! :) The flowers POP!! :)

I'm growing my hair back out again to donate!  I had already been planning on it, and when Beverly got sick again, I knew I wanted to for sure.  In the past, I've donated my hair to  Locks of Love   in honor of my cousin Jenna, a friend of mine Ellen, and in  honor of Beverly as well.  Since this time I'm specifically donating in honor of Beverly, I wanted to find an organization that focuses more on giving wigs to women with cancer.  I found out that   Pantene Beautiful Lengths  does!  They provide wigs to the American Cancer Society to give women who have lost hair due to cancer treatment. T o help me keep up with how long my hair is getting, I'm going to keep a measurement on the side of my blog!  I need at least an 8-inch ponytail to donate, so I'm going to keep up with the length of my hair past my chin (because that's probably how short I'll cut it when I do!)  I could probably go ahead and donate now, but it'd be cutt...

Halfway through a week of waking up early to go to training.  Grad school has spoiled me because I have the luxury of sleeping in most days if needed/wanted.  This cup was one of Paw-Paws and I love it love it love it :)  Yes, I'm the sentimental one in the family!!  I found some scrubs from Carraway yesterday that I think Adam got from a friend in high school who's mom worked there maybe?? I don't really know where they came from, but it made me smile a little when I saw them. :) So maybe this wasn't so wordless haha! :)  :) The plan for tomorrow after training is to do a little sewing with Megan while we finish watching Pushing Daisies...our new Netflix favorite haha. :)  If any good sewing results, I'll put up some pictures! :)

It turned out delicious! :) Megan tasted it, and confirmed that it's yummy! :) Here's the recipe! :) I initially got it from allrecipes, but changed it up a little, so here's my version...(it makes one 9x5 loaf. 1 cup self-rising flour (if you're using all purpose, add 1 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 cup veggie oil 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla 2 eggs 1/4 cup butter, softened Sift flour (baking soda & salt also if using all purpose) and cinnamon. In a large bowl, beat butter, oil, and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in eggs and beat well. Stir in vanilla. Blend with flour mixture until combined. Fold in mango, mixing it just enough to evenly combine. Spray a 9x5 pan and pour in the batter. Let stand in the pan 20 minutes (while the oven preheats at 350*) Bake 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
